Suhana Khan's preference for ivory lehengas has been obvious on far too many occasions. Her choice of cut, silhouette, and threadwork, though, make the repetition exciting each time. For a wedding in February 2025, the actor returned to ivory with a piece from Torani, an ensemble led by a sensual blouse with a plunging neckline, a fit and flare skirt, and a dupatta.

Called the Maahe Nyra Lehenga Set, the lightweight attire, in a distinctive shade of ivory, was a masterly mix of Jeni silk and organza. It was deceptive in its simplicity — there was a lot happening all over, with intricate hand embroidery featuring pearl, zari, and dori embellishments that added up to a rich story, full of ornate floral and architectural motifs. The featherlight organza dupatta, too, carried the same delicate complexity of thread craft. It was Khans's choice of carefully selected pieces from Amrapali Jewels that provided deserving contrast to the monochromatic lehenga: a diamond emerald necklace, seconded with another layer of gold rose cut diamonds and emeralds, and a chorus of emerald bracelets and Victorian-inspired rings.

The only smidgen of flashy bling in the outfit was funnelled into the Micro Bon Bon Champagne Crystal Mesh Mini Bag by Jimmy Choo. The rest of her appearance was all about subdued charm: a half-up-half-down hairdo adorned with flowers, kohled eyes, dewy base, bushy brows, micro bindi, and caramel lips.

Khan is well aware that an ivory lehenga can be one of the most hardworking pieces in her occasion-wear wardrobe. After all, there are no hard and fast rules to its design. It’s versatile enough to be jazzed up or dressed down. While a ball-gown skirt can mean unerring conventional style, you could even try the mermaid cut for an hourglass-y, contemporary look (like the actor). For a daytime ceremony, pair it with traditional polki pieces for peak elegance. Slide into the late hours by glamming it up with look-at-me diamonds and gemstones. With surfeit options in the market, it’s all about letting your personal style be your rulebook.
