Sobhita Dhulipala and Naga Chaitanya officially tied the knot today at the Akkineni family’s Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad, which was established by the late actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Capping off a week of celebrations, the couple's traditional ceremony was attended by close family and friends including NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and Upasana Konidela, as well as Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar.

The bride—Sobhita Dhulipala—wore a gold puttu cheera sari with real zari and went with maximal jewellery to honour her Telugu heritage. The lineup included a basikam (a decorative forehead thread), a maathapatti, a bullaki (septum nose pin), surya and chandra motif-laden tiered necklaces, jhumkas and kadhas. She also styled the look with an elaborate bajubandh. Modest styling has led the way for The Night Manager star, whose previous occasionwear also focused on handloom fabrics and rich colours. Her standout red sari for the pelli kuthuru (where haldi is applied to the bride) a few days ago, worn with a high-necked, long-sleeved blouse, was a call to the return of vermillion in bridal ensembles.

As for her beauty look on the main day, the actor stuck to her tried-and-tested favourites — nude makeup with sharp eyeliner to keep the focus on her jewellery. A classic braided hairstyle replete with gold hair ornaments along its length and a floral gajra punctuated the attire. Finally, she opted for minimal henna motifs on her hands, finished off with a red manicure.

The groom—Naga Chaitanya—wore the traditional madhuparkham with a white pancha featuring a bold red border along with a kurta on D-day to match his bride. A ceremonial basikam (a decorative forehead thread) finished his look.

Chaitanya's father Nagarjuna Akkineni congratulated the couple on X, “Watching Sobhita and Chay begin this beautiful chapter together has been a special and emotional moment for me.”

“This celebration holds even deeper meaning as it unfolds under the blessings of ANR garu’s statue, installed to mark his centenary year. It feels as though his love and guidance are present with us in every step of this journey,” he added.

Sobhita Dhulipala's choice of wedding sari comes as little surprise, since the actor has always spoken about being true to her roots. She also opted for an orange, green and gold drape to the godhuma raayi pasupu danchatam (an event that marks the start of wedding festivities in Telugu rituals).

With a sartorial ambassador of Dhulipala's influence swearing off ornately embroidered lehengas and structured gowns in favour of timeless handloom saris, it will be interesting to see if this has a larger ripple effect on how modern brides choose to engage with tradition on their wedding day.
