The Umang Police Show 2023 held in Mumbai over the weekend, saw the attendance of who’s who of Bollywood like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, Alia Bhatt and Tabu—a considerably rare occurrence. Her stylists understand that the Khufiya actor, known for her versatility and enigmatic screen presence, knows how to maker her presence felt even on the red carpet, and almost never fail.

Styled by Naheed Driver for the event, Tabu wore a black and green silk crepe sari from Abraham & Thakore called the ‘Square Sequin Silk Crepe Saree Black-Lime‘ that is a dream for people who want to make a statement while opting for modest fashion. A plain black crew neck full-sleeved blouse with green sequins on the cuffs was paired with the sari to create a classy monochrome ensemble. Like they say, ‘when in doubt, wear black’.

For detail and contrast, the sari featured hand adda work with sequin cheques in various hues of lime green that elevated the basic black sari. With sequins taking over Bollywood fashion and the rest of the world and plenty of skimpy renditions in the market of the sequin sari worn by celebrities like Janhvi Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, Tabu’s ensemble fits right in while standing out with it’s slight minimalist approach. to add to that, lime green was a popular choice for celebrities this year including Tabu. The actor kept the rest of her look minimal with a pair of small black earrings and a ring.

The earliest mention of hand adda or aari embroidery was in the Vedic period and its proof found in the relics of the Mohenjodaro civilisation.
